The magnificent hall "Ateneul Roman" was inaugurated in February 1888. It is a temple of music and the very symbol of Romanian culture and nation. Beneath its majestic dome, the most prominent conductors and performers of the century were acclaimed: Herbert von Karajan, Arthur Rubinstein, Pablo Casals, David Oistrakh, Alfred Cortot, Wilhelm Kempff, Mstislav Rostropovich, Bela Bartok, Maurice Ravel and many others.
